# Day-After Wedding Brunch: Timing, Menu, Budget, Photos

Day-after wedding brunch: what time, what to serve, what it costs, how to invite, and the moment to look through the photos together.

**A brunch where you finally look at the photos, with Film 36.** Three tools that land just right the next day:

- **The [disposable camera app](https://film36.app/en/disposable-camera-app-wedding/)**: every guest gets **36 shots**, with no preview, and everything develops **at 10 AM**, right before the brunch. **Free for up to ten guests**, then €19.99 once, up to 1,000 guests.
- **The [QR code photo album](https://film36.app/en/wedding-qr-code-photo-sharing/)**: a slideshow for the TV, and the photos guests upload from their phones. Free up to 100 photos, **€49** with no limit.
- **The [audio and video guest book](https://film36.app/en/audio-guest-book-wedding/)**: **€19.90** for voice, **€24.90** for voice and video. One tap on “Play all,” and the messages play back to back at the table.

[Create my film](https://film36.app/en/disposable-camera-app-wedding/)

A good day-after wedding brunch comes down to a few lines: **serve around noon**, plan for **70 to 80% of the guests from the night before**, keep it light, impose nothing, and have one idea that keeps everyone busy without tiring anyone. Venue guides almost all say the same thing. What they forget is that the brunch is **the only moment of the weekend when everyone is finally rested, seated, and ready to look at the photos**.

So here is the complete plan: whether you need a brunch at all, what time, for whom, what to serve, what it costs, how to put it in the invitation, and how to make the photo moment the center of the morning.

## Do you really need a brunch the next day?

No, it isn’t compulsory, and a party that ends at night is a very good party. The brunch answers one specific wish: **to thank those who traveled far, to carry on without protocol, and not to part with a shouted “safe trip” in the chaos**. If it doesn’t answer that wish, or if you are exhausted or on a tight budget, other options exist.

**Brunch on site**

### What the brunch really gives you

Four things, in order of value: **seeing your guests one last time** without the stress of the night before, **thanking those who made the trip**, **cutting waste** (part of the previous night’s buffet can be reused) and **looking at the photos together**. The brunch isn’t a second wedding: it’s the epilogue.

### Cheaper alternatives

A coffee and pastries at the hotel for those staying on site, a picnic in the garden, or a quick lunch with your closest people. If you got married [in a small group](https://film36.app/en/blog/small-wedding-guide/), the brunch is often the right moment to see those who couldn’t make it to the ceremony.

## What time? Serve at noon, and keep the morning for the photos

The reflex is to serve early, around 10 or 11, “like breakfast.” That’s a mistake: **your guests didn’t all go to bed at the same time**, and they don’t all want to get up for a set hour. Venue guides recommend a wide window, for example 11 AM to 4 PM, with service around noon, so everyone can arrive and leave at their own pace. [ABC Salles](https://www.abcsalles.com/guide/mariage/brunch-lendemain-art-reussir-retour-noces) (in French) counts 4 to 5 hours of attendance, and [1001 Salles](https://www.1001salles.com/blog/article/1077/j-1-comment-reussir-un-lendemain-de-mariage) (in French) reminds us that people wake up around 8, 11, or noon.

Serving at noon frees a morning nobody uses: **the one for the photo reveal**. With the Film 36 disposable camera, everything develops at 10 AM: one notification, and the photos from all your guests appear at once. You look through them together, with a coffee, before the guests arrive, you choose what you want to show, and you arrive at the brunch with a selection ready.

### A typical schedule, from 10 AM to 4 PM

Time

What happens

Who handles it

**10 AM**

The reveal: photos develop, you look through them and make your selection

The two of you, with a coffee

**11:30 AM**

Setting up the buffet, the screen and the cards (album QR code)

A witness, the caterer or the food truck

**12 PM**

Welcome, coffee, juice, pastries

Everyone

**12:30 PM**

The buffet, no table service

Guests help themselves

**1:30 PM**

The photos on screen, and the guest book: “Play all”

You, in front of everyone

**3 PM**

Lawn games, a walk, first departures, take-home kit

Guests

**4 PM**

End of the brunch, thank-yous

The two of you

### And if the brunch is earlier, or later

The schedule adapts. For an earlier brunch, around 11 AM, look at the photos as soon as the 10 AM notification arrives and show them in the second half, with coffee. For a later brunch, around 2 PM, you have the whole morning to sort through them calmly: the reveal itself arrives at 10 AM no matter what.

## The next-day photos: the moment nobody plans for

![The bride bursts out laughing at the table, among her loved ones, with champagne glasses and a fruit buffet in front of her](https://film36.app/_astro/brunch-mariee-rire-table.BZTz5kPI_1Mhe80.webp)

Brunch guides talk about menus, venues and outfits. None of them talk about photos, yet **the brunch is the ideal moment to discover them**: everyone is there, rested, with time. The night before, nobody looks at their phone. The next day, everyone wants to see what they missed, what they shot, and what the others saw.

### What you see first, what guests see

With the Film 36 disposable camera, **you see every photo from the wedding**: you keep the best ones, hide the ones that don’t belong, and save your selection to your photo library. Each guest gets their own photos back, exactly as they were taken, plus the ones you choose to share: never the whole gallery by default. Android guests take part from the browser.

### Three ways to look at the photos together

1. **The album slideshow on the TV.** Connect a computer to the TV or a projector: photos scroll by, the newest first, with the QR code in a corner. Seeing your photo on screen makes you want to add more. The slideshow belongs to the [QR code album](https://film36.app/en/wedding-qr-code-photo-sharing/), and it is included in the free album.
2. **Your phone, placed in the middle of the table.** The selection you made at 10 AM gets passed around, with everyone’s comments. It’s the simplest solution, and the one that works everywhere.
3. **The next-day link.** For those who have already left, a ready-made message (WhatsApp, text, email) brings the best photos in quietly, the ones guests sort through afterwards. The album stays open to uploads for 30 days on the free plan, 12 months on the full version.

![The album slideshow in full screen, with a photo of the couple under a shower of petals, and the QR code in a corner to add your photos](https://film36.app/_astro/maries-diaporama.D46n5qQX_Z27Rf8T.webp)

*The album slideshow: one photo at a time, with the QR code at the bottom right (screenshot from the demo, fictional names).*

### Listening to the guest book at the brunch

The brunch is also the right moment for the [audio guest book](https://film36.app/en/audio-guest-book-wedding/). One tap on “Play all,” and your guests’ voice messages play back to back, from first to last: your grandmother’s voice, a friend’s giggle, what a witness didn’t dare say into the microphone. Loved ones who weren’t there can leave theirs from home, through the same link, for 12 months: it’s a way to invite them to your brunch without their hitting the road.

![The couple’s space: five voice messages from their guests, with first names, length and a button to play them](https://film36.app/_astro/mur-messages.C2nwtiVg_21q3Dv.webp)

*The guest book messages, listed by first name (screenshot from the demo, fictional names).*

### The brunch’s own photos

The brunch deserves its photos too. Put a card with the album QR code on every table: guests upload from their browser, with no app and no account, whatever they shoot during the meal or the walk. If you want a series of polished portraits, that’s a photographer’s job: your guests’ photos tell everything else.

## Who to invite, and how to say it

A day-after brunch works as a **small gathering**, and the list is built in circles. [ABC Salles](https://www.abcsalles.com/guide/mariage/qui-inviter-a-participer-au-brunch-au-lendemain-un-mariage) (in French) suggests three categories of must-have guests (close family, the wedding party, close friends) and two optional ones (guests from far away, colleagues and less close friends).

### The brunch guests, by circles

- **First circle**: your parents, siblings, witnesses and wedding party. Almost all of them are there.
- **Second circle**: close friends and guests who are staying on site or traveled a long way.
- **Third circle**: everyone else. For them, the brunch isn’t owed: a thank-you note, or the album link, is enough.

Expect **70 to 80% of the guests from the night before**: some left early, others are tired. That figure is the base for the menu and the budget.

### Two invitation texts to copy

Slip an extra reply card into the invitation, or send a message about a month ahead. Give the date, time, place, dress, and the reply deadline.

> **Formal version.** We would be delighted to see you on Sunday, June 13, from noon, for a brunch at the estate, to carry on the celebration. Relaxed dress, flat shoes welcome: there will be a garden and a few games. Please reply by June 1. The photos from the night before will be for us all to discover together.

> **Casual version.** Come have a coffee with us on Sunday, June 13, from noon, for a brunch at the estate, no protocol, in day-after-party clothes. We’ll look at the photos from the night before all together. Reply by June 1 so we plan enough croissants.

### Saying no without offending

Those who aren’t invited to the brunch will find out anyway. The simplest approach is to **present the brunch as a moment for those who traveled**: “we thought of those who make the trip,” rather than justifying a list. And to give them something else: the album link, or the guest book.

## The menu: light, sweet and savory, and 70 to 80% of the quantities

![A brunch buffet: berry pancakes, baked eggs, a croque sandwich, a flaky wreath and a fruit bowl](https://film36.app/_astro/brunch-buffet-pancakes.DI_MiOY4_qS1eC.webp)

After the previous night’s dinner, the menu should be **light and varied**. [ABC Salles](https://www.abcsalles.com/guide/mariage/brunch-repas-lendemain-mariage-servir-changer-restes) (in French) recommends planning for about 70 to 80% of the original guest count, and reducing the amount per person: appetites are smaller.

### What to serve when everyone overate the night before

- **Sweet**: pastries, pancakes, seasonal fruit, granola, a cake or muffins in the couple’s colors.
- **Savory**: eggs (scrambled, poached, baked), savory tarts, salads, light gratins, cheeses, cold cuts.
- **The previous night’s leftovers**, reinvented: a tiered cake for dessert, vegetables into a salad, bread into toasts.
- **Drinks**: lots of coffee and tea, juices, infused water (cucumber, mint, lemon), maybe a hot drink for those who feel the cold.
- **Dietary needs**: a vegetarian option, a gluten-free option, a non-alcoholic drink: tell the caterer.

![An autumn brunch table seen from above: fried egg, pancakes with jam, granola, figs, cheese, squashes and cups of coffee](https://film36.app/_astro/brunch-table-automne.DDy_GLa5_nRRaw.webp)

### Quantities, without waste

To fix ideas, here is a rule of thumb per person present. It’s our own: a starting point to check with your caterer, not a standard.

Item

Per person present

Note

**Pastries and bread**

2 to 3 pieces

Have them delivered that morning

**Savory**

1 serving (egg, tart, salad)

Plan a vegetarian option

**Sweet**

1 portion (pancake, cake, fruit)

The previous night’s leftovers count here

**Coffee, tea**

2 to 3 cups

The item that goes fastest

**Juice and water**

2 glasses

An infused-water dispenser does the job

### Homemade, caterer or food truck

Three ways to handle it, depending on your energy and your budget:

- **Homemade**: the cheapest, but the day before the wedding is not the time to cook. Leave it to willing relatives, with a shopping list.
- **Caterer on site**: the simplest if you stay at the same venue as the night before; they handle the setup and the cleanup.
- **Food truck or brunch caterer**: they arrive, serve, leave. [ABC Salles](https://www.abcsalles.com/guide/mariage/brunch-lendemain-art-reussir-retour-noces) (in French) recommends it so the couple can enjoy their guests.

## What it costs: the math for 40 guests

A brunch budget is calculated on **who shows up**, not on the previous night’s list. A worked example, to fix ideas (these amounts are an illustration, not a quote):

Step

Calculation

Result

Guests from the night before

40

Present at the brunch (70 to 80%)

40 × 0.7 and 40 × 0.8

28 to 32 people

Brunch at the same venue, per person

€25 to €40

**Total, from**

28 × €25

**€700**

**Total, to**

32 × €40

**€1,280**

The ballparks come from vendor sites and directories, to check with your caterers: [Mariages.net](https://www.mariages.net/articles/qui-inviter-le-lendemain-du-mariage--c9354) (a French wedding site) indicates **€25 to €40 per person** for a next day at the same place as the night before; specialist caterers list brunches **from about €27 per person**, and wedding menus up to €70; a homemade meal runs more like **€15 to €30** per guest.

### The math for your list

Multiply your guest list by 0.7 and by 0.8, then by the price per person for your option. You get a low and a high range: **budget the high one, you’ll book the low one**.

### What you can save without anyone noticing

Stay at the same venue as the night before (no extra rental), reuse leftovers and unopened drinks, choose a buffet over table service, and give the setup to a witness. What nobody sees is half a day of staff you didn’t pay for.

## Outfits, mood, activities: the day-after “casual chic”

### What to wear?

The next day is relaxed: **comfortable, put-together, no suit**. [ABC Salles](https://www.abcsalles.com/guide/mariage/brunch-lendemain-art-reussir-retour-noces) (in French) talks about “casual chic”: a flowing dress, linen pants, flat shoes. The most important thing is to **say so in the invitation**, especially if there’s a walk or an outdoor game: nobody likes showing up in heels on a lawn.

### What keeps people busy without tiring them

An **acoustic playlist**, discreet, to keep conversation going. **Rest corners** (lounge chairs, rugs, cushions) for those who’ve had enough. Simple **lawn games**: cornhole, bocce, croquet, badminton. A **walk** if the place allows. And for guests who still want to take pictures, a card of [photo challenges](https://film36.app/en/blog/wedding-photo-challenge/): three are enough, the day after.

## Logistics: let the couple sleep

The brunch has to happen without you. Four points to settle **before** the wedding:

- **The place**: the same as the night before (the simplest), a garden, a restaurant, the guesthouse. Plan a rain backup.
- **The setup**: entrusted to a witness or the caterer, not to you. The buffet is ready at 11:30 AM.
- **The cleanup**: decide who returns the equipment, who takes the leftovers, who empties the trash.
- **The take-home kit**: containers for leftovers, a bottle of water, maybe a small jar of jam labeled with the couple’s names.

When

To do

**D-30**

Decide on the brunch, book the venue and the caterer or the food truck

**D-21**

Send the invitation (or slip the reply card into the invitation)

**D-7**

Confirm who’s coming, adjust quantities, plan the rain backup

**D-2**

Groceries, drinks, equipment (tables, lounge chairs, games)

**D-1**

Set up the games and the screen, cards with the album QR code

**Wedding day**

The wedding: the brunch is handed off to someone else

**D+1, 10 AM**

The photo reveal: you look through them and make your selection

**D+1, 12 PM**

The brunch: welcome, buffet, photos, guest book

## FAQ: day-after wedding brunch

### Do you have to have a brunch the day after a wedding?

No. Many weddings end at night, and that’s perfectly fine. A brunch is useful if guests travel from far away or stay on site, or if you want to carry on without protocol. If you’re exhausted or on a tight budget, a coffee at the hotel is enough.

### What time should the day-after brunch be?

Around noon, with a wide window from 11 AM to 4 PM. Guests don’t all go to bed at the same time: serving too early means ending up with four people. Keep the morning for looking at the photos together, with a coffee.

### How many guests should you plan for at the brunch?

Count on **70 to 80% of the guests from the night before**. Some leave early, others are tired. For 40 guests, that’s 28 to 32 people: that’s the figure to use for the menu and the budget.

### How much does a day-after wedding brunch cost?

Between **€25 and €40 per person** for a brunch at the same venue as the night before, according to Mariages.net, sometimes more with a specialist caterer, less if homemade. For 28 to 32 people, count €700 to €1,280. Always ask for a quote: these figures are ballparks.

### What should you wear to a day-after wedding brunch?

Something **comfortable and put-together**, no suit: a flowing dress or linen pants, flat shoes. Say so in the invitation, especially if there’s a walk or an outdoor game.

### How do you look at your guests’ photos during the brunch?

With the Film 36 disposable camera, everything develops at 10 AM: you make your selection, and each guest gets their own photos plus yours. At the brunch, run the [QR code album](https://film36.app/en/wedding-qr-code-photo-sharing/) slideshow on the TV, or show the selection on your phone. The guest book is played separately, with one tap on “Play all.”

## To finish

A day-after brunch is prepared like a small dinner: a reasonable list, a light menu, someone else at the stove. What makes it unforgettable is what you look at together. For the photo part, [create your film](https://film36.app/en/disposable-camera-app-wedding/): it’s free for up to ten guests, and the reveal lands at 10 AM, right before the coffee.
